Constitution As Distraction

There has been much made of the Constitution and I would like to weigh in. Simply put, it is not my understanding of the III Congress that it seeks to write a new Constitution, but to draft a position statement, nothing more. We are not about to re-write the Constitution. As anyone knows, it is not the Constitution that gave us our rights, it is God (or nature, if you will) and it is not so much that our elected officials have followed the Constitution and we have arrived at this place in history so much as it is that they have ignored and distorted the words in the Constitution to pervert a document intended to secure freedom to the people into a document that sanctifies their abuses of power.

Swearing fealty to the Constitution is nothing more than swearing fealty to the principles it attempts to honor. I have no problem swearing again to secure and defend the Constitution, but I don't believe that is the question.

I am a Constitutionalist and believe if the society intended to be created by the document were to be a reality none of us would have much to complain about. But it would have to have created a society where liberty is held in esteem and power is reserved to the individual, but with the power of the state comes the empowerment of the bureaucrat.

The problem has always been how to solve big problems with private solutions, but the document was written when there were no software companies, when there were no cell phones, or internet connections. The power of the individual has never been greater, yet somehow the power of government has never been greater. This is how we know that the government no longer seeks the liberty of the people, but control.

The III Congress is an opportunity to re-assert the power and value of the individual, but what it all comes down to is not the Constitution, it is the natural rights we have as human beings. We don't need government to do all of these things for us, the government needs to empower us to do these things for ourselves.

I have no problem with laws against fraud and deception in marketing, they are the modern day equivalent of highwaymen preying on the ignorant. I do have a problem with laws against doing those things which are human and rightfully left to our discretion because it harms no one else. Ours is not the society designed by the Constitution. Who is to blame? The document or the people? These are useless distractions. We are here and we need to know whether we are capable and willing to stand up to the government and demand the rights which were given to us by God.

This is not a democracy, our rights are not left to public vote; our property and possessions are not those of others who have garnered enough votes to take them. Whether that is the Constitution that expresses that fact, or not, I am forced to defend my rights against all of those who would vote to exclude me from those protections.

It is time to fight for these rights, because they are not up for sale to the government agency with the best loot.

The only question I entertain is: How?

If the answer to that question is the III Congress so be it, if not, I will go my own way and do what I think brings attention to our condition.
